Steve Davis says Chris Neal's form has earned Vale points this season
Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has praised the contribution made by Port Vale’s goalkeeper Chris Neal this season. The 28-year-old stopper has been in superb form as Micky Adams’s side have adjusted to life in League One.
Neal moved to Vale Park in the summer of 2012 from Shrewsbury and he is a goalkeeper long-admired by Steve and this coaching staff.
Steve says the form of Neal has earned the Valiants a number of points in their quest to reach the play-offs.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Chris has been excellent for Port Vale this season. Whenever I have been to see them this season he has made some crucial saves at important times.
“I was surprised that Shrewsbury let him leave and having a goalkeeper of that calibre can earn you 10-15 points a season if they make saves they shouldn’t make.
“He is proven at this level and been a very good asset for them. He is a good, solid goalkeeper and I’ve seen him make some terrific saves this season.”
