Hoping Injury Isn't Too Serious

26 February 2014

Club hopeful Etheridge hasn't suffered recurrence of thigh injury

Steve Davis is hoping that the latest injury scare to on-loan goalkeeper Neil Etheridge is nothing too serious. The Fulham goalkeeper complained of feeling his thigh muscle when kicking the ball in last night’s 1-0 defeat at Stevenage, but he was able to complete the 90 minutes.

The Philippines International had re-signed on loan earlier in the day and was selected ahead of our young goalkeeper Ben Garratt.

Crewe is hoping that Etheridge has not suffered a recurrence of his thigh strain that prematurely ended his first loan spell at Crewe back in November.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Neil came in at half-time complaining about his thigh. He was in discomfort but was keen to continue.

“We will have to assess how he is and will remain in contact with Fulham. We have brought him back in because he is a good goalkeeper and has a lot of experience for a 24-year-old. He has played for his country a lot of times and did very well for us in his first loan spell.

“We are hoping that the injury is nothing too serious.”
