Alex defender pens new two-and-half year deal

Crewe Alexandra Football Club is delighted to announce that George Ray has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal to take through to the summer of 2016.

The Alex defender, 20, is fully expected to realise his potential and become a regular first-team player over the next couple of years. The Warrington-based Ray started this season in the Crewe starting line-up ahead of Mark Ellis and Adam Dugdale but injuries have limited his appearances to nine games in League One.

Ray’s rise from the club’s renowned Academy has also seen him win International honours with the Wales Under-21s and he has gone on to win four caps.

Ray also holds the accolade of being the first ever player to make his professional debut in a Wembley Cup Final after coming on in the dying seconds of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final against Southend last April.
