Ben Garratt to be offered new deal after 'fantastic spell' for the frist team
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he will be offering Ben Garratt a new contract after his impressive performances in his first full season for the club. Garratt was unfortunate to lose his place to the returning Neil Etheridge for last night’s trip to Stevenage after appearing in 13th consecutive matches after Etheridge returned to Fulham with a thigh injury.
It was a big call to make for the Crewe Alexandra boss because he has been impressed with the way Garratt has made that step up into first-team football.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ben has done fantastically well for us ever since he came into the team and that is why he kept his place. I had a conversation with him on Monday and explained the reasoning on why we were bringing Neil back.
“He is aware of the situation and although he was naturally disappointed, he understood it and was fine with it.
“Ben has a bright future in the game and will be a big part of the plans here over the next few years. He will be rewarded for his efforts and has had a fantastic spell for us.”
