Boss challenges his players to show that they can build on Sheffield win

Steve Davis believes that his side can go to Bradford City this weekend and put on another good performance to get a positive result. The Crewe Alexandra boss is looking for his team to build on last weekend’s superb 3-0 win over FA Cup giant-killers Sheffield United and says it will show that we can be consistent enough to escape the drop. A win for Crewe would see the Bantams just one point ahead of us and it remains extremely tight at the bottom of the League One table.

Ahead of our encounter at Valley Parade, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have been focussing on ourselves and what we need to do to make sure we put in another positive performance. The lads will be going there with confidence because of the result last weekend and the way we have been playing over the last few months.

“We haven’t always got what our performances have deserved but I have been pleased with the way we have played in the second half of the season. I think everyone can see the improvement we have made.

“We had a great result against Sheffield United and now we have to follow that up. When we have had a good result and performance, we haven’t followed that up on too many performances, so now we have another great chance to do that.”
