George looking forward to his second derby encounter
Crewe Alexandra’s on-loan midfield player George Evans knows all about derby games having come from Manchester City and of course scoring his first senior goal against Port Vale last November.
Sadly, Evans’ wonder strike to open the scoring was not enough to give Crewe anything that day as the Vale fought back to win 2-1, but the England youth international says the encounter was a day he will never forget.
Now the 19-year-old cannot wait for his first trip to Vale Park for the reverse fixture. Evans, who has now made 17 appearances for the club since signing on loan from Manchester City back in late October.
Ahead of this weekend’s local derby, George told crewealex player: “The Port Vale game is the game we look forward to. I haven’t played at Vale Park before but all the lads have been telling me about this week, the atmosphere and what it has been like in previous years.
“We know what a big game it is and I could tell that from the game at Crewe. I managed to score that day, which is something I will always remember but we were disappointed not to have taken something from our performance.
“These are the games we relish as a player. I know it will be a great experience for me and you just look forward to it and hopefully going out and getting a result for your club and the fans.
“The preparation has been really good this week and I cannot wait for the game to start. I am sure it will be another great game and a good occasion.”
