Donaldson Will Fire Brentford Up

13 February 2014

Steve Davis believes our former striker will fire Bees into the Championship

Steve Davis knows the threat posed by Clayton Donaldson better than most after previously working with the Brentford forward when he was here for three seasons between 2008-2011. Donaldson, 30, ended his Crewe career with the player-of-the-year award and the League Two Golden Boot after scoring 29 goals.

Donaldson has continued to score goals for the Bees and looks set to fire Mark Warburton’s side into the Championship after they narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Clayton was a wholehearted player and always gave 100% for this club. He is a good all round players, scores goals and his pace and power make him a handful.

“We know he is a major threat and the coaches and some of the lads know him well. I have always had a lot of time for Clayton. I like him a lot and I enjoyed working with him when he was with us.

He added: “We all know he is one we have to watch carefully, but Brentford have threats all the pitch. They are a strong unit and will be looking to be challenging for promotion, so we know it will be difficult.”
