Steve saays his players are growing in confidence at just the right time

Steve Davis has re-analysed his side’s performance against Bradford City at the weekend and the Crewe manager remains proud of his players’ achievements in difficult circumstances. The Alex did surrender a two-goal lead and then a 3-2 advantage with time running out but Davis stressed that neither team deserved to lose such a pulsating game of football.

Davis says he would have taken a point from a trip to Valley Parade but says we could have got more with the way the match panned out. Putting aside the draw, Davis was immensely pleased with the performance and praised both sets of players.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have watched the game again and we have broken it down into the defending and the attacking. It was good to view it again and it was a really good game and all credit to both sets of players for their efforts in difficult conditions.

“No-one was hiding and took responsibility for their performance. Everyone was accountable for their performance and I thought it was a good all round game.

“We have been able to enjoy some of our performances of late and if we can play like we did against Sheffield United and then at Bradford then I am sure we will get the points we will need.

He added: “There hasn’t been that many games this season where he have been biting our nails right to the end and if we had defended two long shots from their captain a bit better then we could have come away with a 3-1 win but I thought that neither team deserved to lose on the day.”
