Chuks: "All About The Points"

Match winner Aneke on why Sheff Utd has only lifted confidence in the dressing room

Crewe’s modest match winner Chuks Aneke says Saturday’s victory over Sheffield United was all about the three points. Aneke’s own individual display saw him score two goals for the first time in his career but the on-loan Arsenal youngster was just pleased that the 3-0 win over the Blades has moved us up a place in the league table and up to 30 points.

Aneke has certainly been Crewe’s match winner in recent months and his brace against the Blades now sees him in double figures for the season, if you include his ‘goal’ against Leyton Orient when his shot struck the post and didn’t appear to hit Byron Moore on the way in!

Chuks feels he is entitled to it and has a case! The club will let you decide by slowing down the goal against the O’s on our official Youtube channel.

After the 3-0 win over Sheffield United, Chuks told Crewe Alex Player: “It was just great to get the three points. That was our aim so do that against a club the size of Sheffield United, meant everyone was ecstatic.

“We have found three points hard to come by at times this season and it makes such a difference in the dressing room when you win rather than lose. It was just nice for us to play well, score some goals in front of the home fans and move up the table a bit.

“It is nice to score goals and I was disappointed not to get a hat-trick when Toots played a pass into me, but it is the first time I’ve managed to score two in a game before, so I’m not greedy. It is all about winning the game and getting the three points for the team.

“It bodes well and we know that if we can play well then we have enough quality here to give anyone a game, especially at home and we have to try and build on the result at Bradford.”
