Steve Davis impressed with Bees masterclass
Steve Davis believes that Mark Warburton’s Brentford side will deserve to be promoted at the end of the season after seeing the in-form Bees inflict Crewe’s first defeat in three games.
Brentford cemented their billing as the best team we have faced in Skybet League One by completing a league double over us with a deserved 3-1 win.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We knew Brentford would be a tough game because of the group of players they have. We had to line up a bit differently mainly because we had Uche (Ikpeazu) out injured and we had to pack the midfield a bit more.
“Brentford have great movement and keep the ball well but we didn’t let them get in behind too many times. They have scored three great goals, so if we also take the goals against Bradford into consideration that is five worldie’s out of six against us.
“We were a bit timid and nervous in the first half and we spoke about that at half-time and had a lot more possession. We needed to be braver on the ball and gave it a bit of a go. After the penalty, and I don’t know if it was or not, if we had got another then it could have made for an interesting last five or so.
He added: “I was relatively pleased with the way we defended but they have scored goals from long range and that is the quality they possess. They will deserve to be promoted at the end of the season, after narrowly missing out last season because they are the best team in this division.”
