Boss To Bolster Squad

Steve Davis would like to improve his options after having seven ruled out with injury

. Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he would like to bring in 'another one or two' before the ultimate loan deadline on March 27th. The Alex boss had to reshuffle his midfield slightly after George Evans and Abdul Osman were both ruled out with foot injuries. Youngster Liam Nolan was handed a chance in the 1-0 defeat to Stevenage

It was his first start for the first team since facing Stevenage in the reverse fixture back in October.

Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge re-signed on loan yesterday and played 90 minutes at the Lamex and Davis says that he would like to bolster his squad with one or two more signings after having seven in the treatment room.

Crewe are currently without long-term absentees Max Clayton (ankle) and Ryan Colclough (hernia), striker AJ Leitch-Smith, Ollie Turton, who suffered a knock on his knee in our Under-21 clash on Monday against Derby, George Ray (ankle).

Anthony Grant also didn’t train on Monday but was prepared to play through the pain barrier at his previous club Stevenage last night.

“I don’t think I’ve had so many players out with injury and it left us a bit short on the bench, ‘says Steve.

“I will perhaps to do something before the deadline. We could do with perhaps another one, a winger to help us a bit. We do have quite a number of forward players out.

“I won’t complain or use the ones we had missing as an excuse for the defeat because I felt we did enough to have at least got a point. I’m sure we will have some of our players back for Saturday to help us.”
