Boss hopes more will follow Ray in agreeing new dealsSteve Davis says he is hopeful more of the Alex squad will follow George Ray in agreeing new deals with the club. 20-year-old Ray signed a new long-term deal with the Alex earlier this week and Davis says that the club are already looking at extending other contracts.
Davis told crewealex.net that he has spoken with Chairman John Bowler as the club begin the process of looking beyond the end of the current campaign and he says that he hopes progress can be made within the next few weeks.
Steve told crewealex.net: “When we have got young players of our own we are always keen to reward them and hope they realise their potential. George is in that bracket so it was good to see him sign a new deal.
“I think we have shown faith in George by giving him a new contract and it shows that we think he can come in to the team in the future and do well for us.
“I spoke with John last week and it is always an on-going thing because we are always looking to secure the futures of our young players. We see these players as the future of our club and we have others in mind who we will look to talk to over the next few weeks. “
