Aiming For Back-to-Back Wins

25 February 2014

Steve Davis says his players are capable of going again to bring home three away points

Steve Davis says his players cannot fail to take great confidence into tonight’s re-arranged fixture at Stevenage following Saturday’s superb victory in our derby clash with Port Vale. Crewe ran out deserving 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Mathias Pogba, Chuks Aneke and Bradden Inman and Davis says that the performance and our third win on the road shows that we capable of going away from Gresty Road and producing the goods.

The boss had recently asked for better away form and got in spades as Crewe created a number of opportunities at Vale Park.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The players should be full of confidence after Saturday. They showed great quality and could have scored more than the three goals that we did. The players showed a high level of performance and now they have to follow that up and try and produce back-to-back away wins.

“We will approach the Stevenage game in the same way we approached the Port Vale game. We will be going there aiming to win the game because back-to-back away wins at this stage of this season would give us a massive boost.

“We have been telling the players for a while that our destiny is our own hands and if we can win two on the bounce then that would make huge difference to our league position. If we can go on that little run then we could be in mid-table before too long because it is still extremely tight down there.

“We have seen with West Ham in the top league and Wolves in our league what two or three wins can do. It puts you right back in there and we want another good three points this evening.”
