Uche Just Wants To Do Well

1 December 2014

On-loan striker determined to help Crewe move away from the drop zone

Steve Davis firmly believes that a goal on his ‘second debut’ for the club will only enhance the confidence of Uche Ikpeazu. The 19-year-old also claimed the Man-of-the-Match award as Crewe picked up a point against Doncaster Rovers at Gresty Road.

Ikpeazu was already a firm favourite with the Alex faithful following his previous loan spell with us last season and he certainly showed why Davis was keen to bring him back on loan from Watford with an all-action display.

He was forced off late on with a tight groin and was replaced by Marcus Haber but the injury is not thought to be too serious.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Everyone was pleased for Uche because he is the type of player who wants to do really well and show people what he can do.

“Uche is keen to do well here. He hasn’t had many chances in his career but people tend to forget that he is still only 19 and learning the game.

He added: “He is a powerful lad and when he runs at you, he is very difficult to stop. He showed what a handful he is and how difficult he is to play against and I am sure when he and Nicky (Ajose) are match fit then we will see even more from them.”
