The Players Are Ready

Davis says his players are ready to go again over busy festive period

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his players are more than ready to resume playing again at the weekend. The Alex boss was disappointed that defeat to Sheffield United in the FA Cup prevented his team from participating in the second round of the competition but he has used the enforced break to work with his players.

Crewe travel to Scunthorpe this weekend aiming for a first win in eight games but having tightened up at the back, an improved run has seen us draw four of those fixtures.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are all looking forward to getting back and playing again. We had an enforced break because we were not involved in the FA Cup and that has given us a chance to work more with the players.

“I would much have rather played on Saturday than train because it would have meant we were still in the FA Cup. I was disappointed to go out of the FA Cup after having two goes at it with Sheffield United.

“The players have had a rest and have worked hard. We have increased the intensity in training and have worked on their fitness and integrated the new players into what we want to do.”
