LDV Out For Scunthorpe Trip

Lauri not to be risked for Scunthorpe after going over on his ankle

Crewe Alexandra’s latest signing Lauri Dalla Valle is unlikely to feature at Scunthorpe United tomorrow after going over on his ankle in training. The Finnish striker hobbled out of training after going over on his ankle when landing awkwardly after taking a shot.

The injury is not thought to be too serious and the 23-year-old is fully expected to be fit for the club's home game against Bristol City on 20th December. It is a blow for the Railwaymen who wanted to add the option of having Dalla Valle alongside new loan signings Uche Ikpeazu and Nicky Ajose.

Steve Davis explained to the club’s official web-site: “Lauri took a shot in training and landed awkwardly when he landed on the astro. It can be an unforgiving surface for that but we are confident that the injury is not too serious.

“He is doubtful for this weekend but we expect him to train again next week and be ready for the Bristol City game. If he would have gone straight into the team is doubtful but he is an option we would have wanted because he has looked lively ever since he has come here.

“We do have some other options though with George Cooper, Brad Inman, Marcus Haber and Callum Saunders, so we are okay for numbers and quality.”
