Last Years' Experience Will Help

3 December 2014

Steve Davis says his squad will be well equipped for the fight in the second half of the season

Steve Davis feels that the experience of last season will only benefit his squad this time around. Heading into the busy Christmas and New Year period, Crewe Alexandra are in a similar position to last season but Davis believes that going through that relegation scrap last time will only put us in a stronger position.

The Railwaymen were everyone’s favourites for relegation last season but came through in the end by finishing the season strongly. Crewe lost just one of their last six games to escape the drop.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The majority of the players who were here last season are still here and they know it is about and what they have to do. We are in a similar position when it comes to points per game to last season.

“I think we look better equipped to have a much better second half of the season with the additions we have been able to make and the younger players having more experience.

“It will be no different. The players will have to battle away and approach each game looking to win. It is up to myself and the staff to drive them forward and make sure we keep on improving.

He added: “There are plenty of matches left and enough points to play for. Hopefully, we can go on a good run in December or January to make it easier on ourselves heading into the last few months of the season.”
