Hopefully George Can Help Them

10 December 2014

Steve Davis is hopeful that George Cooper can help the U-18s get a result against Fulham

Steve Davis is hoping that young George Cooper can help the Crewe Alexandra Youth Team knock Fulham out of the Youth Cup this evening. The teenager, 18, has made 13 appearances for the Crewe first team this season, scoring twice, but Davis has allowed the forward to participate in the FA Youth Cup tonight.

With Crewe not having a fixture last weekend due to our early exit in the FA Cup, tonight’s eagerly anticipated fixture with Fulham was the perfect opportunity for Cooper to acquire some game time.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “With us not having a game at the weekend, we thought it would be okay for George (Cooper) to play for the Youth team.

“It will be a good experience for him and I’m sure he is looking forward to it as well. Hopefully, George can help them get a result. It will also be a good indication of how he has improved as a young payer by being involved with the first-team. He should be the stand out player for us.

The first team boss added: “It is a chance to show how far he has gone on as a young player.”
