Encouraging Over Lauri

Boss hopeful of getting something sorted out with LDV

Steve Davis says he would like to add Lauri Dalla Valle to his attacking options if a deal can be thrashed out for the former Fulham and Liverpool striker. Dalla Valle is currently on trial with the club and did himself no harm by scoring both goals for the club’s Development Squad at Coventry on Monday.

Dalla Valle, 23, was a firm favourite with the Alex supporters following a successful loan with the club during the 2012-13 season. The Finn scored five goals in 10 games before returning to Craven Cottage. He was later sold on to Norwegian club FC Molde before moving on to Belgian side Sint-Truiden in the summer of 2013.

Davis invited the striker over to trial and was so far impressed with his attitude and application.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I travelled over to Coventry to watch Lauri in action and he was fine. He showed that he was in decent shape and he ran around for us. He is a goal scorer. Although his contribution was minimal in the game in terms of touches, he has a real knack of being in the right place at the right time.

“He grabbed the ball to take the penalty and his second goal was a terrific glancing header. He showed what he can do inside the box and we will have a conversation with him and see what he wants to do.

“A goal scorer is hard to find and he is a first class professional. We enjoy working with him and hopefully we can sort something out because he will offer competition for places. He would be another goal threat for us.

He added: “We are hopeful that we can sort something out because Lauri enjoyed it here. He rang us to see if he could come over and he knows that we would work with him to improve him and give him a chance to get his career going again.”
