Could Play All Three

Steve Davis says he could play all three of his new forwards

Steve Davis has not ruled out playing all three of his new strikers in a new look forward line. The Alex boss worked hard to bring in Nicky Ajose and Uche Ikpeazu on loan and the Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle on a permanent deal to bolster his attacking options.

The Crewe boss now has a plethora of attacking talent to choose from with Marcus Haber, Brad Inman, Billy Waters and Callum Saunders also in contention for the forward positions.

Ahead of this weekend’s away trip to Scunthorpe, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We now have plenty of options up front and we have been looking for that quality and strength in depth since the summer.

“We have been able to do now before Christmas so that gives us time to turn it around.

“I wouldn’t rule out playing all three of them in the same team. It is a matter of getting the best use of them when they are here with us. It gives a different way of playing.

“If Uche can reproduce what he did for us on Saturday then we have a real player on our hands. He has come back looking an ever better player. He is fitter and more athletic and he has worked hard on that.

He added: “Nicky and Lauri are naturally fit boys anyway and they will keep going for us, so we are looking a lot better.”
