Boss says fringe contingent have a chance to impress at Blackburn today

Steve Davis says that the club arranged this afternoon’s reserve friendly at Blackburn Rovers to allow members of his fringe contingent to acquire some game time ahead of the busy Christmas period.

The likes of Marcus Haber, Chris Atkinson, a fit-again Liam Nolan and captain Matt Tootle are all set to play some part in the behind closed door encounter.

New signing Lauri Dalla Valle is also set to play.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is important that a number of our squad get some game time. We have a busy period coming up and we are going to need some of them at some point, especially when we play a couple of days after Boxing Day.

“We have been able to arrange a reserve friendly with Blackburn. Neil (Baker) spoke with Terry (McPhillips) and it all happened very quickly. It is important to have those relationship with clubs and know who to call when we need a game.

“I think it is a fixture that will benefit both clubs and it was straight forward to organise. We have a few coming back like Alan Tate, Matt Tootle and Liam Nolan and they need a game. It is perfect for some of them to get a game and blow some of the cobwebs off."
