Boss To Speak To Toots About Return

12 December 2014

Alex boss Steve Davis says he will listen to his captain before he decides on recalling him

Steve Davis will hold talks with Matt Tootle after today’s final training session to see if the club captain is ready to return to action after missing the club’s last six matches due to illness. Tootle, 24, played an hour of the club’s reserve game at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday afternoon and came through that run-out feeling okay.

He has trained for the last two weeks and Davis Is hopeful that he will be able to bring last season’s player-of-the-season back into his squad.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I will speak to Matt after training. He will train as normal and then I will see how he feels. If he is okay then he will be available for the squad.

“He played 60 minutes for the reserves in the week and he was fine. There was no reaction there and he has recovered quickly. He is certainly feeling a lot better but I will speak with him and see if he is ready to play because he has been out for over a month now.”

Meanwhile defender Jon Guthrie is rated as doubtful after aggravating a hamstring.
