Boss Focussed On Scunthorpe

4 December 2014

Steve Davis hoping for a good points return for Christmas

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis appreciates that his side face a difficult Christmas period with the current League leaders Bristol City coming to Gresty Road on 20th December and then following that up with meetings with Oldham Athletic and Preston North End. But the Alex boss is firmly focussed on getting a result at Scunthorpe United on 13th December. Scunthorpe are currently in the bottom four alongside the Alex and a victory for the Railwaymen would put us on the same point tally as the Iron, who have 19 points from their 18 games so far.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We can look forward to the games in December. We will probably be the underdogs in the majority of the games but we have shown in the past that we can rise to the challenge.

“If we repeat and emulate what we did against Preston and Bristol City last season and perform well again then why wouldn’t we have a chance?

“They are all tough games in this league and we have Scunthorpe up next. They had a great win away at Barnsley and have some goalscorers in their team like Paddy Madden, so we will prepare like we always do.

“We have two weeks to prepare for that game and work with the players, so we will be ready for the game.

“Scunthorpe are in the bottom four with us at the moment and they will be looking to fight and claw their way out of it, like we are. It gives us a different type of challenge to facing say a Bristol City, but it will be just as tough because they are desperate for points like we are.”
