Rochdale Paper Review

20 August 2014

What the press made of our crushing defeat to the Dale…

The Sentinel
CREWE were left stunned by an incisive Rochdale side as they fell to their third straight league defeat.
The visitors counter-attacked with great pace and precision all night, but were helped by more sloppy defending from the Alex who have now conceded nine league goals in their opening three games in League One.
Matty Done was the Rochdale hero with a hat-trick as the Dale overcame an early setback which saw the Alex go ahead at home for the second successive home game.
But just like Barnsley on Saturday, they failed to build on their good start which they were handed by Marcus Haber’s first goal for the club.

The Chronicle
A SHOCKING defensive team display the Alex embarrassed by Rochdale at Gresty Road on Tuesday night.
Matt Done plundered a hat-trick and Peter Vincenti and Ian Henderson struck for the visitors, who really could have had more goals.
The Alex were all at sea, not just at the back but as a unit, as their confidence took a battering.
Keith Hill's side earned their first win in South Cheshire since 1988 despite full debut man Marcus Haber's classy double.
That leaves Crewe bottom of League One after three goals, having shipped nine goals already.

Manchester Evening News
Matt Done fired a hat-trick as Rochdale opened their League One account with a thrilling victory at the Alexandra Stadium.
Keith Hill’s side overcame the loss of several key players through injury to pick up their first points of the season.
Ian Henderson cancelled out Marcus Haber’s ninth minute opener before Done scored either side of the break to put Dale in the driving seat.
The contest looked set for a nailbiting finish when Haber scored his second. But Peter Vincenti restored Dale’s two-goal advantage when he linked up with Henderson and the result was wrapped up when Done completed his hat-trick.
