Steve Davis says he is closing in on one or two additions but won't complete before weekend
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is moving closer to signing some more players on loan, but that it is unlikely to happen before this weekend’s opener with Fleetwood Town. The Alex boss would be reluctant to alter his planning at this late stage anyway.
Crewe open the season at Highbury Stadium and Steve is pleased that the majority of his squad are fit and ready. Only longer term absentees Harry Davis (knee) and Ryan Colclough (hernia) are definitely ruled out.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We are progressing with one or two of our targets but nothing will be done at the moment. I don’t expect anything to happen before the weekend but we could bring one before Tuesday night and then perhaps another by next weekend.
“I don’t mind that too much because we have worked with the team all week. They are all fit and well apart from Harry and Ryan and the spirit inside the camp is good.
“I know we need two or three more players to improve us. We could do with some defensive cover in the full-back positions and everyone knows we are working hard to bring in another natural winger and a centre-forward. We could do with adding some quality and to our strength in depth but we still have a competitive squad and the lads are eager to get going now.”
