Boss wants to continue to assess winger's potential

Crewe Alexandra boss will continue to assess the potential of trialist Angelo Balanta following his release from Queens Park Rangers in the summer. The 24-year-old winger scored for a young Crewe Alexandra XI in a comfortable 7-0 win over Rocester on Monday evening and Davis says he needs time to evaluate his credentials as a possible replacement for Byron Moore.

The Colombian born wide man is looking for another club after almost seven years as a young player at Loftus Road and he certainly caught the eye during three separate loan spells at MK Dons.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are continuing to have a look at Angelo. He is certainly a good player with pedigree but he hasn’t played too many games over the last few years and whilst he is we will try to get to the bottom of why that has been the case.

“He is a talented boy and has shown that at QPR and whilst on loan at MK Dons. He managed to get a goal the other night in a friendly but it was hard to judge him on that game because of the level of opponent.

“We will make a decision on him as soon as we can.”
