Crewe Alexandra have signed Manchester City youngster Greg Leigh on a five-month loan, expiring on 5th January 2015.

The 19-year-old full-back has been a stand-out performer in the Citizens' elite development squad, and this move represents his first venture out on loan from the Etihad. His Crewe Alexandra debut will be his first game in senior football.

He enjoyed an excellent 2012/13 season, earning his first England U19's cap and receiving a nomination for the Academy Player of the Year title at City Live.

Leigh hails from Sale and was signed by City from Sale United in 2004 after being spotted by City scouts. A pacey modern full-back, Greg is not only adept at halting opposition wingers but can also trouble the opposing right-back by bombing on to the by-line.

He can also find the back of the net in open play and in the air from set-pieces, as highlighted by his decent return of four goals in 2011/12. Leigh was a regular for City EDS last season at home and in Europe.

Greg made his debut for England U19s against Denmark in February 2013 and has won four caps at this level to date.

The deal is subject to Premier League, Football League and FA Clearance.
