Boss says his group of players are determined to prove the bookmakers wrong

Steve Davis is pleased that Crewe Alexandra are looking forward to a third year in Sky Bet League One and he stresses that the entire club is determined to prove the bookmakers wrong after they, not for the first time, dismissed our chances with their latest seasonal odds.

Ahead of the first game of the season at Fleetwood, the Alex boss told crewealex.net: “We are now looking forward to our third year at this level and I am pleased to be a part of this league and this club.

“Our main goal is to be more consistent and do better than we did last season. We have to be realistic because this is a tough league but we aim to be competitive again and do our best.

“There is a real determination within the group to do much better and improve. We did that last season and finished strongly and deservedly stayed up after what was a difficult year.

He added: “With everything that we had to deal with and the start we had before Christmas I think the players deserve great credit for keeping us up and we can now only look forward. I am not one for looking back too much at things and this Saturday we go again.”
