Davis: "Bolton Has Passed Now"

Steve Davis targets first league win of the season

minute winner.thSteve Davis is hoping that his Crewe Alexandra side can take Tuesday night’s really positive performance against Bolton Wanderers into Saturday’s clash at Gillingham. Crewe took the Championship side into extra-time before eventually losing 3-2 due to Jermaine Beckford’s 117

The Alex boss was delighted with the performances of his players, especially in the opening half an hour when Crewe was dominating the proceedings with some fluent football. Davis is hoping his side can cut out some individual mistakes but remain very much on the front foot as we go in search of our first win of the season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The Bolton game has gone now. We can take a lot of positives from the performance and we were disappointed to lose in extra-time.

“We will analyse the DVD again and whilst we were show the players how well we played, we will also go over the mistakes and what we could have done better.

“We were left scratching our heads a bit afterwards because we didn’t get the result we deserved over the 120 minutes, but if we can reproduce performances like that then we will be fine. We had the majority of the team playing close to the top of the game and that is what we are looking for.”

Steve added: “Now we have to move forward and continue to do that.”
