Boss Praise For Leigh

Picked u[p en route new loan signing Greg Leigh slotted straight in

Steve Davis praised the performance of his new loan signing Greg Leigh after the team coach picked him up on the M62 en route to Barnsley!  Leigh’s five-month loan deal from Manchester City was only completed yesterday after the club received the necessary clearance for him to participate in the Capital One Cup.

The 19-Year-old England Youth International made his senior debut at left-back replacing Jon Guthrie from the side that lost narrowly at Fleetwood on Saturday and he certainly demonstrated his potential to get forward and join in with the attacks when the opportunity arose.

Crewe boss Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “We picked Greg up on the way to Barnsley and it is never easy when it is like that. The first time he met the lads was in the service station and he then had the opportunity to talk to them a bit more at the pre-match meal.

“We went through the tactics with him and talked him through the set-plays and he just went out and played his normal game. He enjoys getting forward and joining up with the attacks and is an athletic boy.

“He still has a bit to do defensively, in those one vs. one situations and he poked his foot in a couple of times but that was his debut in senior football and I’m sure he would have benefitted from having a taste of it.

He added: “We are delighted to have him here and he will be extremely useful for us.”
