Boss Hints At Changes

19 August 2014

Crewe manager Steve Davis may shake up pack for Rochdale visit

Steve Davis has hinted at making some changes for Crewe’s third League game of the season against Rochdale this evening. The Alex boss has virtually a fit squad to choose from with only Harry Davis (knee), Ryan Colclough (hernia) and Fraser Murdoch (knee) ruled out.

The Alex boss is looking for that winning formula after his side were beaten 2-1 in their opening two games against Fleetwood and Barnsley at the weekend.

Ahead of the visit of Keith Hill’s Rochdale side, Steve said: “We are always looking to do better and improve. The ones in the team at the moment know they have to play well to stay in the team. If they don’t then we have a number of options to change it.

“I am also willing to change it depending on the opposition we face. We could do something different tactically and with the system. If I think some changes to the personnel would give us a better chance of a result then I would do it. I think that has always been the case throughout my career.

“I don’t think we have been far off getting the results we need. Our performances have been decent but the result hasn’t gone for us. We have scored two and let in four, so we know what we need to do.

The boss added: “We need to score more and concede less and improve our game management and decision making at crucial times of the game.”
