Steve Davis still after a winger and forward after adding two

Steve Davis is delighted to have been able to bring in two Premier League youngsters in on loan to bolster the competition within his squad, but he is still after another winger and forward to really be satisfied with his numbers.

England Youth International full-back Greg Leigh has arrived from Manchester City and made his debut at Barnsley on Tuesday evening. He was quickly followed by the Stoke City midfielder Jamie Ness on a similar loan agreement. The former Scotland Under-21 will be with us until the beginning of January.

Now with his defensive numbers and midfield blessed with options, the Alex boss is now firmly stepping up his interest in a centre-forward and winger.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It has always been my intention to strengthen the squad with quality players. When the players we wanted and have been interested in became available then we bought them in.

“I am delighted to have Greg and Jamie here. They will offer that competition and cover we have been looking for.

“Now we need to improve the competition to the front three. The squad is still thin in that department and we could do with two more.”
