Turton Convinced We Will Stay Up

Midfielder fully fit and hoping to play a part in run-in

Crewe Alexandra midfielder Oliver Turton is hoping to play a part in the club’s run-in after proving that he is back to full fitness with some encouraging performances for the club’s Under-21s. Turton has played his part in helping the development squad qualify for the play-offs where they will play Cardiff City in a one-off semi-final at their impressive Stadium when a fixture date can be decided between the two clubs.

Turton has shown his versatility by playing right-back and in central midfield in recent weeks and the Altrincham-based youngster will be hoping he has done enough to be included in the squad for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Turton, who recently signed a new two-year deal with the club, believes that there is enough quality and spirit in the Alex camp to make sure we avoid the drop back into League Two.

Ollie told the club’s official web-site: “The quality we have in our team, we shouldn’t be struggling at all. Results didn’t go for us at the start of the season and throughout, but I think we’ll be fine in the end.

“We had a good win at Gillingham but we lost against Coventry, but I think we put a good show in, and we should’ve got something out of the game. Then we went and got a great win in Crawley, so if we can take that into Wolves then that’ll be good because it’s all dead close down there at the bottom.

Ollie added: “All the games for the rest of this season are going to be tough. We’re just going to go into every game trying to get the win.”
