Clayton and Colclough could rejoin group soon for run-in

Crewe Alexandra are hoping to be handed a real boost heading into what could be a vital Easter period with the news that Max Clayton and Ryan Colclough could be back training with the first-team squad shortly.

Both players are now running freely following long-term injuries and will just need to prove their fitness levels by passing the club’s fitness to receive the go-ahead to re-join the group.

November when he came on as a late substitute. rdClayton is recovering from the broken ankle he suffered in our FA Cup exit to Wycombe Wanderers back in November, while winger Colclough has struggled with a hernia problem for the past six months. The 19-year-old has not featured since our derby defeat to Port Vale back on 23

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “They have both worked hard to get back and although it is difficult to put an exact time on their return to training, they are close.

“Max is making great progress and Ryan isn’t too far behind him. He is still feeling a bit of discomfort so it is important we don’t rush him. Both are running around again and it is just a question of them building up their fitness level and working on that endurance.

“They are not far off and hopefully we can step it up again this week and see if they can join us ahead of schedule really.”
