Preparation Will Be Spot On

24 April 2014

Boss changes plan as squad will travel to Bristol tomorrow instead of on the day

The Crewe Alexandra squad will depart for the West Country tomorrow afternoon as boss Steve Davis aims to get his preparation spot on for our encounter with an in-form Bristol City at Ashton Gate. The Crewe squad will train tomorrow before leaving for Bristol mid-afternoon and then staying over in a nearby hotel.

The Alex boss says he and his staff will be ‘leaving no stone overturned’ in their preparation for our final away match of the 2013/14 campaign.

Ahead of our encounter with the Robins, who have lost just one of their last 11 games, Steve told crewealex.net: “The players have had some rest and we are preparing for the game like it was a cup final. We know how important it could prove to be and are making sure our preparation is spot on.

“We will come in and train tomorrow before we make our way down to Bristol. We will stay over. We will have something to eat at the hotel and then to bed, resting up for what is such an important game for us. We know the stakes are high and we will be leaving no stone overturned to make sure we are right.

“We are enjoying the challenge. It is a test for all of us and we don’t want to give up our status as a League One club. The players want to be League One players, we want to be League One coaches and I want to be a League One manager.

The boss added: “The club is excited to be a League One club and to be playing clubs like Bristol City, Coventry, Wolves, Sheffield United week-in, week-out. We want to protect that by getting the results we need.”
