I Want To Know Scores Elsewhere

29 April 2014

Boss focus will be on us but he will be kept informed of results from elsewhere

Steve Davis says he will want to know how the likes of Carlisle, Notts County and Tranmere Rovers are getting on Saturday so he can adjust his own tactics accordingly. Davis admits that he will only be in the technical area, focussing on his own team and won’t be side tracked with results elsewhere but will be kept informed by his first-team coach James Collins if a change of our result is needed.

Crewe need to beat play-off bound Preston North End to be almost certain of surviving in League One if Tranmere and Carlisle fell to win. The Cumbrian side have to defeat Crawley Town this evening to keep their hopes of avoiding the drop into League Two alive.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I will be kept informed of what is happening on Saturday. I am sure the results will filter through to the fans and my staff will be keeping an eye on things.

“I think it is important in this case to know what the other four clubs involved in it are doing. I will be focussed on my team and will be in the technical area making sure we do what we want to do.

“My staff will be keep their eye on things elsewhere and will let me know if we need to change our approach in anyway. It could be really exciting in the final 20 minutes or so and things can changed quickly, so it would be ridiculous not to know where we stand.

“I think the professional approach will be to know what we need. We might need to score a goal, we might need not to concede another. We might need a point. We might need to win, so we would want to know.”
