Aneke future put on hold as boss wants Arsenal ace to fire us to safety
Steve Davis has always stated that Chuks Aneke is a player he would certainly be interested in if he was to become available, but he has put any talk of him making his loan move permanent on hold as he wants the Arsenal youngster firmly focussed on helping us get out of a relegation scrap.
Aneke, 20, is enjoying his second year on loan at Crewe Alexandra and a very productive season has seen him score 17 goals. The former England youth international is also a potential candidate player-of-the-season after such a consistent season.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Chuks has done a great job for us over the last two years, especially this season where he is our leading scorer.
“He is a player we have a lot of time for and we have certainly not ruled out trying to sign him for us in the future, but he is still an Arsenal player and we have to respect that.
“I haven’t spoken to Chuks about his future. It isn’t the time and I don’t want him to be thinking about it. I want him fully focussed on his performances and helping us escape relegation.
“I want him to play as well as he has been doing in the second half of the season because on his day he can be unplayable.
He added: “Chuks is desperate to do well for himself and for the club and he has always worked hard to improve whilst he has been here with us. It is too early to talk about his future because we have six games left and we know how key he is for us.”
