Boss admits he has choices to make with starting XI
Steve Davis says that he has been ‘given food for thought’ after some promising performances at Crawley on Saturday and for the Under-21s yesterday. The Alex boss has a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s visit of Champions elect Wolverhampton Wanderers with young Liam Nolan performing admirably on his return to first-team action and Brad Inman springing from the substitutes’ bench to score a priceless winner in our 2-1 win.
Irishman Nolan returned in place of George Evans. The Manchester City youngster was rested after featuring in the majority of the games since joining us on loan in November, but scored in the Under-21s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday yesterday. The result confirmed the club’s place in the play-offs.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We will have a look at Wolves and how they line-up and I will select a team that I think is best suited to get a result. That could mean one or two changes but we will assess them this week.
“Brad did himself no harm. I thought we was excellent when he came on and ran in behind and got his goal. He gave us something different. Liam did himself no harm either with the way he played on his return to the team.
“George was excellent for the Under-21s yesterday and got a goal. His attitude, like the rest of them, was excellent. There are players giving me food for thought and that is what you want as a manager. You want them all playing as well as they can.”
