Davis On Tubbs Threat

3 April 2014

Steve wary of danger man Matt Tubbs

Steve Davis says his back four will have to keep Matt Tubbs quiet if we are going to get back to winning ways away at Crawley this weekend.

Crewe were undone last week by Coventry’s main hit-man Callum Wilson and the Alex boss is after maximum concentration to keep out Tubbs and his team-mates.

On Crawley’s main goal threat, the Alex boss said: “Most teams in this division have a goal scorer, who you have to try and keep quiet if you are going to get a result. That was certainly the case with Wilson last weekend and it will be much the same with Tubbs this week.

“Tranmere have Lowe, Coventry have got Wilson, Bristol City have two strikers who have been in good form despite them struggling for much of the season, so there are strikers in every team who can produce something on the day.

“Saying that, we have relied on Chuks for most our goals and they will be worried about him because we haven’t shared the goals around as much as I would have liked.

He added: “Having players of the calibre of Chuks or a Tubbs on the pitch always gives you a chance and that is how you have to look at it. The majority of teams have a threat.”
