Boss says he will assess his team this week before deciding whether to recall Aneke from ban
Steve Davis says he will evaluate his team this week before deciding whether to bring back Chuks Aneke. The on-loan Arsenal youngster had to sit out a three-game suspension following his red card on the stroke of half-time against Wolverhampton Wanderers for an alleged elbow on Richard Stearman.
As Crewe have fought gallantly to remain in League One, Aneke has had to watch as a frustrated spectator as we have drawn our last two games 0-0. Davis says that the club’s leading scorer is desperate to put things right following the second red card of his Crewe career.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Unfortunately we have not been able to utilise Chuks for three games and I’m sure he will look to the Preston game and want to put things right.
“At the back of his mind I am sure he will be looking at it and be thinking that he let us down by not being available for these past three games, but he has been terrific for us all season and will be really determined to help us stay in the league.
“I will assess how he does this week and make a decision whether he or anyone else will start.”
