Available-again Aneke determined to make his mark
Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that the available again Chuks Aneke has been ‘bubbling over’ after having to serve a three-match suspension for an alleged elbow against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The club remain convinced that the on-loan Arsenal forward did not intentionally elbow Richard Stearman on the stroke of half-time but his red card meant that we had to go into our next three fixtures without our leading scorer. Aneke has been in exceptional form this season, especially in the second half of the campaign and he leads the club’s goal scoring charts by a long way having scored 17 goals thus far.
Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Chuks has been frustrated and disappointed that he hasn’t been able to be out there helping us.
“He has been bubbling over these last couple of weeks but he is always in good shape and I’m sure he will play some part for us on Saturday.
“I won’t need to motivate Chuks or anyone else because they know what is at stake and what they need to do. They have worked hard to give themselves this chance and they have got to embrace the challenge and be positive.
“I want them to play with some courage, the same courage they have shown in recent games when every point gained has been important and deserved.”
