Steve Davis says going on the road again doesn't faze his players

Steve Davis is hoping that his team’s relatively good form on the road can continue at Crawley’s Broadfield Stadium this weekend. The Alex have recently picked up more points on their travels than at our Gresty Road home and the Crewe Alexandra manager says that with teams expected to come out and attack at home, it can leave space for his creative players to exploit.

Crewe were unfortunate to draw late on at Walsall and have enjoyed 3-1 away wins at Port Vale and Gillingham. Our inconsistent form though saw us lose back-to-back home games against Notts County and Coventry City.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It doesn’t really matter if we play at home or away at the moment. We need the points wherever we are playing and will be going to each our remaining six games looking to win it.

“Lately we have been doing better on the road. We drew at Walsall and should have won there and have won at Gillingham and Port Vale. The players have done well away and we will be looking to do the same at Crawley this weekend.

“Three points would give us a massive lift again and we will hang in there because some results will go for us and some will go against us along the way. The belief is there. We can get the points we need and our run-in is a good one. Our destiny is our own hands.

He added: “There are those who will be pessimistic, who says we haven’t got a chance and the optimists like me, the staff and the players who will want to prove those people wrong.”
