Away Form Provides Mass Confidence

24 April 2014

Steve Davis says recent away results means we have nothing to fear this weekend.

Steve Davis says that the club’s recent away form suggests that Crewe Alexandra have nothing to feat going to Ashton Gate this weekend. The Railwaymen may have struggled for results at home of late but are looking for a fourth successive away win against Bristol City following wins at Crawley, Gillingham and Shrewsbury.

Ahead of our trip to the West County for our final away game of the season, Steve told us: “I wouldn’t say I am totally surprised by our away form but it has been very welcome when you consider our results at home. We haven’t won nearly enough games at home this season.

“Our recent away form has got us out of the bottom four really and the players have shown that they are capable of going to some difficult places and winning, even when there has been a lot of pressure on us. The Bristol game should hold no fear for them.

“I will pick the best team and the best 18 I think will get us the result. We will do the best we can and although we know it could be difficult, we will be going there to win the game. It will be the same as before against Shrewsbury and Colchester in that if we cannot quite win it then we don’t lose it.

“Our attitude will be to win the game but also to be hard to beat and cause them problems.”
