Crewe players help raise awareness to donate blood

The Alexandra Stadium is one of the most used venues for donating blood in South Cheshire and we are proud to have this continued association with them.
NHSBT’s donor relations manager for Cheshire, Claire Williams, said: “We’re grateful to the Crewe players for helping us raise awareness of blood donation by wearing a different kind of red shirt.
“We constantly need to recruit new donors so we would be delighted from Crewe fans who are interested in attending one of the sessions, perhaps at the Stadium.”
Patients undergoing major surgery and emergency treatment often require blood transfusions, but perhaps less well-known is the fact that blood is essential to the treatment for many different types of cancer and blood disorders.
Anyone aged between 17-65, weighting more than 50kg (7 Stone 12lbs) and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor. There is no upper age limited for donors who have donated in the last two years.
