Vadaine: "Great To Get My Chance"

Alex forward grateful to be given his place in the team

Vadaine Oliver admits it was a welcome relief to get his first Alex goal against Peterborough on Saturday. The former Lincoln forward was restored the starting-line up for the visit of Darren Ferguson’s men and justified his selection as he latched on to a Brad Inman cross after just 15 minutes.

Oliver was delighted to be given his chance to lead the Alex line, but was understandably disappointed that the Railwaymen couldn’t hold on to all three points.

Speaking after the game, Vadaine explained: “It was just unlucky not to get the result. We worked our hearts off and it does feel like a loss. But we have to keep our heads up. We played a good game and we can kick-on from here.

“It was good to finally get a goal, I got quite a few in pre-season. Simple tap-ins are the best ones, I’ll take them all day. I was happy with myself to be in the position to do that. Hopefully I can get more now.

“I am very grateful to given my chance in the team. I have earned my way back in and hopefully I can keep my place now.”
