Davis hints at possible change for Walsall visit

Although he was delighted with his side’s response following a 5-0 hammering at Swindon, boss Steve Davis is still contemplating changes ahead of Walsall’s visit to the Alexandra Stadium. The Crewe boss has always been open to change his team if he feels it would give him an advantage over the opposition.

He made three changes against Peterborough United last weekend after Lee Molyneux, AJ Leitch-Smith and Vadaine Oliver performed admirably as second half substitutes against Accrington Stanley.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The two up front did well for us and earned the right to play. Now they have to keep producing that level of performance and make sure they stay in the team. All the players’ are in the same boat.

“I could still make one or two changes and that could be with one eye on what Walsall do. I have been pleased with the last two performances but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t change it if I thought it would give us an extra edge.

“We did what was required to get a result against Peterborough but two lapses of concentration at the end of each half cost us three points. That is something we have worked on this week. “
