Steve: "Taking The Positives"

Alex boss down but happy with display

Steve Davis admits conceding a last minute equaliser against Peterborough United was tough to take.  Goals from Ajay Leitch-Smith and Vadaine Oliver looked like they would be enough to secure a second home win of the season for the Alex but a Michael Bostwick goal two minutes in stoppage earned Posh a point.

But speaking to the press after the game, Davis said he would be looking to take the positives from the game, and was full of praise for his goal scorers.

Davis told crewealex.net: “I have really mixed emotions at the minute. I was really pleased with the performance and the shift that the lads put in, but I am disappointed that we weren’t able to hold on to the win.

“I never felt that they would get that goal in the second-half to be honest with you. I felt a lot more confident with the way that we defended and we have just made a sloppy mistake at the end of the game. The ball has hit one of our lads on the face to go in.

“That is the luck we are getting at the minute. But I will look to take the positives from the game today. We had a very difficult game, have got a point and there have been some really good performances.

“I am really pleased for Ajay to get his goal, and I thought Vadaine put in a real shift up front so it is great for him to score too. We have played with them together before and they have looked good and they looked good again today.

“Overall I am really happy with the lads. The crowd were great as well and I thought that we looked like a team today. That is really pleasing.”
