Davis looking forward to meeting up again with Oldham boss Lee Johnson

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is looking forward to meeting up against with Oldham Athletic boss Lee Johnson after agreeing for the former Yeovil midfielder to train with us last season. Johnson spent three weeks training with us to get fit with the possibility of earning himself a deal at Crewe, but the 32-year-old was appointed Oldham boss in March.

Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “Lee trained with us in the summer, he lives in Nantwich.

“He has had a terrific start and it is a tough job, a lot of players have left and he has brought a lot in on a limited budget – a bigger budget than ours but a limited one for League One.

“He has done a decent job, he'll be a chip off the old block and will seek advice from his dad (Yeovil boss Gary Johnson) and they are attractive to watch. He won't be doing us any favours.

“Last season we got as great result there on a very difficult night by digging deep, scrapping and competing well. If that's what it takes, sometimes when confidence isn't high the pretty football has to be put to one side and the graft needs to become more apparent.”
