Steve Phillips reveals his frustration at indifferent start to the season

Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Steve Phillips has told Crewe Alex Player that it is time to stand up and be counted as we aim to get our season back on track. Crewe slumped to a first home defeat of the season against Walsall at the weekend and a frustrated Phillips wants to see a better fight from the Railwaymen going into this weekend’s clash at Oldham.

Steve told Crewe Alex Player: “We are making too many mistakes and it is the same mistakes. They have crept back into our game after we had put together two decent performances against Accrington and Peterborough.

“We went down on Saturday with a bit of whimper and we have got to be a lot better than that. When you are in a situation like this there can be criticism and a bit of digging out but you have got to put up with that. It is part and parcel of being a professional.

“Now you will either sink or swim. I am a fighter and I won’t be sinking. We need everyone to be like that. We win as a team and lose as a team and there has to be a lot of soul searching because we have got to get it right.”
