Unwell Captain Set The Tone For Battling Display
Steve Davis has praised the contribution of his captain Abdul Osman in making sure Crewe collected a point from a tricky away game at Oldham on Saturday. Osman was unwell at the weekend and was certainly struggling in the dressing room at half-time, but was determined to re-appear for the second half and help the club collect that deserved point.
Osman has missed the last two days of training due to the illness but it is hoped that he will be fine to face Gillingham at the weekend.
Steve explained to crewealex.net: “Abdul led by example on Saturday because he really was not well. He was struggling and we thought he would have to come off at half-time but he wanted to stay on.
“Fair play to him he went back out there for the cause and he didn’t complain or moan about it. That is what we need and his influence out on the pitch is important to us. He worked hard in that seconds half and helped us get a result.
“That has now given us a foundation to build on and hopefully Abdul will be fine for the weekend.”
